Cereus Night Bloom

ree

Beauty, grandeur, majesty unsurpassed and unmatched

Silky white petals, lace like threads, what a wonder you are.

You're brilliant, as you bloom, when you've finally hatched.

Yet only at night do you show yourself, like a star.

One would never know the beauty within, the oyster's pearl.

For the thorny trunk of your being is a leathery weed.

Gray and rough, a bristling branch, until finally you unfurl.

The treasure inside is revealed, stemming from a delicate seed.

A fleeting performance, all good things must come to pass.

Ephemeral, your precious existence lasts only one night.

One night of the year, a display, a life, that is fragile as glass.

Worthwhile, though a temporary duration, still a cherished sight.

In the vastness of the universe, seemingly inconsequential,

Life is such as the Night Bloom, brief and fleeting.

Our curse is mortality, a conversation so existential.

Yet mortality, in its brevity, yields a splendor worth greeting.

Take heed all you wanderers, those in search of something more.

This transience brings value to life, so don't dwell in gloom.

We cannot live forever, and to do so would render life a bore.

Take pleasure in each breath, each moment, and remember the Night Bloom.
